DESIGN STATEMENT

Inspired by the visual language of classic Hollywood Westerns and the traditions of Golden Age musical theatre, the design celebrates theatrical multiset staging, creating a vibrant world where scenery, light, and performance work together to transform the town of Deadrock, Nevada, into a lively stage for joy, humor, and possibility.

CONCEPT

This design for Crazy for You draws inspiration from Bobby’s dream and his deep passion for theatre. The visual world begins in the glamour of New York City, where glowing marquees and classic Broadway theatre signs emerge within a darker, colder urban atmosphere.

From the urban glamour of New York City to the warm, saturated desert landscape of Deadrock, Nevada, a pink, dusty world where the ghost town becomes a magical and slightly exaggerated place.

The set functions as a constantly shifting environment through the two buildings in the town.
